The Little House A Wildlife Retreat for Couples in Surrey with a Unique Badger Watching Experience

Have you ever stayed somewhere where the wildlife becomes part of your holiday?

That’s exactly what happens at The Little House.

Tucked away in the Surrey Hills, surrounded by nine acres of fields and woodland, our little, dog friendly, holiday cottage is a place for couples and solo travellers who love nature, walking, wildlife and the simple pleasure of getting away from it all.

And then there are the badgers…

Our resident badgers have their own sett just a few metres from the cottage and as darkness falls, they start to emerge.

Watch them feed in person, squabble, play, scratch, sniff and generally behave like a family who have forgotten they’re being watched.

Or sit quietly in the cottage, watching the badger cam, completely absorbed in their world.

It’s one of those things you don’t really plan for when you book a holiday.

But it often becomes one of the things you remember most.

Of course, the badgers aren’t the only residents.

Deer wander through the fields, birds visit the garden and owls call across the woods. The wildlife pond attracts its own collection of visitors, and every season brings something different to discover.

There are walks from the doorstep without a road to cross, miles of footpaths and countryside to explore and plenty of places nearby to eat, drink and enjoy.

Then, when you’ve had enough adventure, you can come back to The Little House. In the summer light the bbq or fire pit, toast marshmallows and watch the starlit sky. In the winter the underfloor heating throughout the cottage keeps everything cosy. The flickering flames from the log burner adds a special ambiance and the unlimited supply of logs will ensure it lasts all night long. Pour yourself a drink and settle down somewhere wonderfully comfortable.

We’ve filled the cottage with the things we would want when we go away. Comfortable surroundings, thoughtful touches, lovely little treats and everything you need to make your stay easy.

And because we know that sometimes the best holiday is the one where you don’t have to think too hard, our guidebook is packed with our favourite walks, places to eat and things to do.

You can plan every minute or you can do absolutely nothing. There’s no right answer.

The Little House is for couples who want to escape, slow down and enjoy being somewhere beautiful.

Some come for the walking. Some come for the peace and quiet. Some bring their dog.

And quite a few arrive thinking they’re coming for a relaxing break… and leave slightly obsessed with the badgers.
