Local Area Information

A little bit away from it all. And yet surprisingly close to everything.

Tucked away 250m up a farm track in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Little House is surrounded by fields, woodland and open countryside.
Step through a little wooden gate and you’ll find direct access to miles of footpaths, ancient heathland and woodland, with no road to cross. You can head out for a gentle stroll, a proper hike or a walk with your four-legged companion and start exploring straight from the door.
And yet, despite feeling wonderfully tucked away, we’re just under an hour from London, making The Little House an easy escape from the city.
We’re also perfectly placed for exploring further afield, with the South Coast, the Witterings, Portsmouth and Chichester all within easy reach.

There’s plenty to discover

If you can tear yourself away from the garden and the wildlife, you’ll find an abundance of things to see and do nearby.
The Devil’s Punch Bowl is right on the doorstep, with almost 700 acres of heathland and woodland to explore. Frensham Ponds, Thursley Common, Waggoners Wells, Alice Holt Forest, Hankley and Bourne Woods are all within easy reach too.
For a change of pace, explore the independent shops and cafés of Farnham and Haslemere, visit historic houses and gardens, discover the Sculpture Park just a mile away or head further afield to places including Jane Austen’s House, RHS Garden Wisley, Petworth and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
And, of course, there are plenty of lovely pubs, restaurants and cafés for those important post-walk refreshments.

Or don’t go anywhere at all. That’s the beauty of The Little House.
You can spend the day exploring, but you really don’t have to.
Stay in your slippers. Wander down to the wildlife pond. Sit in the garden with a coffee. Light the fire pit. Pour a glass of wine and listen to the owls and watch the badgers in person or on the live Badger Cam.

We really do have something for everyone in our special corner of the Surrey Hills.
